Job summary

Montana Conservation Voters, Inc. seeks a Bozeman Lead Canvasser to head the Bozeman canvass team, manage daily voter contact, and staff community events. You will coordinate operations, train canvassers, and maintain schedules and metrics.

You’ll report to the Field Manager and travel within the Bozeman area, working outdoors at least 80% of shifts. This seasonal, full-time hourly role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a small team of canvassers, ensuring accountability.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new canvassers.
  • Coach canvassers to strengthen messaging and improve voter conversations.
  • Assist team members in completing required duties.
  • Knock on voters’ doors and have guided conversations about conservation issues.
  • Update canvass metrics and team schedules nightly.
  • Communicate regularly with MCV leadership and Bozeman Regional Organizer.
  • Maintain and report accurate field data and progress toward campaign goals.
  • Troubleshoot on-the-ground issues and other duties as assigned.

Title: Bozeman Lead Canvasser

Start Date: Negotiable

Status: Full-time, Hourly, Seasonal to 11/13/26

Report To: Field Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION: BOZEMAN LEAD CANVASSER

The Bozeman Lead Canvasser is responsible for leading MCV’s Bozeman canvass team in daily voter contact, including coordinating daily canvass operations, training and coaching canvassers, and staffing community events.

The Lead Canvasser will communicate regularly with MCV leadership to ensure goals are met and the team is working efficiently. The Lead Canvasser will update schedules and campaign metrics nightly, report vital numbers, and alert leadership to any issues that arise. The Lead Canvasser is expected to actively problem solve, help team members complete their duties, and participate in daily canvassing activities.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and coordinating a small team of canvassers, ensuring accountability
  • Recruiting, training, and onboarding new canvassers
  • Coaching canvassers to strengthen messaging and improve voter conversations

  • Knocking on voters’ doors and having guided conversations about conservation issues
  • Updating canvass metrics and team schedules nightly

  • Troubleshooting on-the-ground issues and other duties as assigned

The Lead Canvasser should expect to travel within the Bozeman area. The Lead Canvasser will work outside for at least 80% of the workday and be on their feet and walking for at least 80% of each shift.

COMPENSATION

MCV offers a competitive hourly wage of $28 to $32 per hour, contingent on experience and location. Bonus opportunities throughout the season may be offered. Full-time employees of MCV are eligible for health, dental, and optical insurance as well as retirement benefits.
