Job summary

Voter Education Project is seeking a motivated Paid Canvass Lead to coordinate daily outreach efforts and coach a team of canvassers in the field. You will work with the Canvass Manager to ensure messaging accuracy and daily goal attainment.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced campaign environment, including evenings and weekends. A competitive hourly wage and opportunities for advancement are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in political canvassing or related field.
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a team is preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate others in a fast-paced field environment.
• Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and canvassing databases/software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of canvassers during daily door-to-door outreach and phone banking activities.
• Assist with onboarding and training new canvassers on campaign messaging and data collection procedures.
• Provide in-the-field coaching, encouragement, and performance feedback to help canvassers meet daily goals.
• Monitor team productivity and communicate progress to the Canvass Manager.
• Ensure canvassers record voter interactions using campaign databases and software.
• Help maintain a positive, professional, goal-oriented team environment.
• Assist with field logistics, including staging and distributing materials.

As a Paid Canvass Lead, you will work alongside the Canvass Manager to coach, motivate, and support canvassers while helping ensure successful voter outreach in the field.

• Assist with onboarding and training new canvassers on campaign messaging, best practices, and data collection procedures
• Provide in-the-field coaching, encouragement, and performance feedback to help canvassers achieve daily goals
• Monitor team productivity and communicate progress, challenges, and staffing needs to the Canvass Manager
• Ensure canvassers accurately record voter interactions using campaign databases and canvassing software
• Help maintain a positive, professional, and goal-oriented team environment
• Assist with daily field logistics, including staging, distributing materials, and preparing walk packets or turf assignments
• Serve as a point of contact for canvassers by answering questions and resolving minor issues in the field
• Engage with community members to promote the campaign's message and gather valuable voter feedback

Qualifications

• Previous experience in political canvassing, community organizing, voter outreach, or a related field
• Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a team is preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate others and lead by example in a fast-paced field environment

• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and canvassing or voter database software
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work evenings and weekends as campaign needs require
