Job summary

Tria Federal is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to join one or more agile teams supporting a large federal software program for CBP. You will work with Product Owner, SME, stakeholders to elicit and define requirements, produce as-is/to-be processes, and create UI mockups and flow diagrams.

You will groom the backlog, write user stories with acceptance criteria in Jira, facilitate JAD sessions, and ensure alignment with government priorities.

Qualifications

  • Must have client-facing experience eliciting requirements and strong knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Experience with mapping business processes and documenting User Stories and Use Cases; BPMN knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Experience working on a large Federal program and coordinating with Product Owner, SME, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Product Owner, Scrum Master, SMEs, stakeholders, and dev/test teams to elicit and define requirements.
  • Elicit and produce as-is and to-be business process models, including happy/unhappy paths; knowledge of BPMN preferred.
  • Produce UI mockups, wireframes, UI/UX design, flow diagrams, and process models.
  • Facilitate JAD sessions with Product Owners, SMEs, end users, and stakeholders.
  • Write and groom User Stories with acceptance criteria in Jira; maintain backlog per govt priorities.
  • Develop and maintain requirements in Confluence and team wiki.
  • Assist PO in scoping features and backlog grooming.
  • Act as scrum master/facilitator for Agile ceremonies as needed; estimate story points and track velocity.
  • Understand project progress and deployment schedule to support CBP milestone reviews.
  • Capture action items and meeting minutes; ensure timely completion.
  • Perform sprint pre-planning, planning, and grooming to meet velocity.
  • Collaborate with Govt PO to align priorities for future sprints.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform the role of a Business Analyst on one of several agile software development teams on a large large-scale Federal software development program for our US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client.
  • Coordinate with Product Owner, Scrum Master, Subject Matter Experts, Stakeholders, and the development and testing team to elicit and define a shared understanding of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Elicit, define, and produce business process models (as-is and to-be), including "happy path" and "unhappy path" and other techniques. Knowledge of standards and best practices (e.g. BPMN) preferred.
  • Produce requirements visualization and user interface design in the form of UI Mockups, wireframes, UI/UX design, flow diagrams, and business process modeling.
  • Facilitate JAD sessions with Product Owners, SME's, end users, and stakeholders.
  • Define and groom Product Backlog of user-driven requirements. Write User Stories along with corresponding acceptance criteria in Atlassian JIRA, and maintain and groom the product backlog in accordance with established priorities with the Govt Product Owner.
  • Develop and maintain requirements documentation and requirements in team wiki on Atlassian Confluence
  • Assist Product Owner in scoping and prioritizing functionality and grooming the product backlog.
  • Ability to act as team scrum master and facilitator as necessary along with Product Owner and agile team leads to facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint and increment planning. Estimate story sizing and track and manage team velocity
  • Establish a firm understanding of project development progress and deployment schedule in order to support CBP project managers in the preparation for project milestone reviews and critical decision points.
  • Facilitate meetings with Product Owners, SMEs, stakeholders and team members and capture requirements, decision points, and/or meeting minutes
  • Perform gap analyses for requirements completeness and quality
  • Capture action items and requirements from meetings and ensure they are documented and assigned as tasks or incorporated into user stories for timely completion
  • Perform sprint pre-planning, planning, and grooming sessions and ensure workload is assigned appropriately within the agile team to achieve desired velocity.
  • Work very closely with the Govt Product Owner to identify and shape priorities and ensure they are properly incorporated into future sprints and completed in a timely fashion.
Skills & Experience:
  • 5-8 years of Business Analysis experience
  • Ability to work independently to carry out assignments to completion and within the established sprint and increment timeboxes
  • Must have client-facing experience eliciting requirements and strong knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies
  • Experience working in a consulting environment and an understanding of client relations on a large Federal program. Prior experience working on CBP projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience eliciting functional and non-functional requirements from business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong experience defining and mapping business process models, and documenting User Stories and Use Cases. Knowledge of BPMN is a strong plus.
  • Experience with software UI/UX design and UI design tools: Axure, JustInMind, iRise, Balsamiq, etc...
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including technical and business oriented colleagues and customers.
  • Experience working with the following software products: Atlassian Tool Suite (especially JIRA and Confluence), Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work under pressure, coordinate multiple assignments at once, and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direction from supervisors or clients
  • Deep knowledge and experience with full SDLC, and experience working on an agile development project from kickoff to deployment.
  • Strong attention to detail
Required Technical/Business Tools Experience:
  • Advanced experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
  • Microsoft Office Tools and applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • UI/UX design and UI design tools: Axure, JustInMind, iRise is highly preferred
  • MS Visio and business process modeling of as-is and to-be processes
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience leading contracts for agile teams.
  • Senior level communication skills with the ability act as liaison between business-oriented stakeholders and the technical agile development team.
  • Ability to work with clients to not only achieve immediate tasks and goals, but also to identify, carve-out, and provide value-add services and identify and fill client gaps and challenges.
