Job summary

Lilly is building a next-generation biotech drug substance manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA. The Principal Automation Engineer – Building Management Systems will help design and deliver BMS for site buildings, integrating with the GPACE and coordinating with A&E firms and system integrators.

Role spans startup through commissioning and post-delivery support, with collaboration across Lilly IT and site engineering, and some travel as needed to support the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years in Building Management or Building Automation.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor.

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture and mentor others in design and problem solving.
• Collaborate with Lilly Engineering, A&E firms and system integrators to define requirements for software and hardware.
• Support the design and delivery of the site BMS platform with suppliers.
• Develop AFID’s, P&ID’s, and operation sequences for BMS platforms.
• Deliver a fully integrated automation solution scalable for business needs.
• Participate in staffing, statements of work, supplier management and delivery strategies for automation systems.
• Develop site BMS capabilities within the Richmond automation team.
• Create site procedures for BMS platforms and administration activities.
• Provide technical oversight during development and design reviews.
