Job summary

The City of Fairfield is recruiting for a Building Inspector Supervisor in the Community Development Department. The role provides supervision and training to the Building Safety staff, assists the Chief Building Official, and helps review plans and issue permits while enforcing building and zoning codes.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, adaptable and a mindful leader who communicates effectively and leads by example. Licenses and certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of full-time building inspection experience with a public agency or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of lead experience at a level equivalent to the City of Fairfield’s Senior Building Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, direction and training for assigned personnel in the Building Safety Division.
• Assist in planning and directing division activities and review of building plans for permits.
• Enforce residential and commercial building and zoning codes and laws.
