Job summary

The City of Foster City is seeking a qualified Senior Building Inspector who is detail-oriented and has the knowledge and experience in the areas of building inspection and safety and code compliance to join the Building Division of our Community Development Department. The Department consists of Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement Divisions and is headed by Community Development Director.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible building inspection experience with a city/county public agency.
• Possession of a California Class C Driver License.
• Certification as Residential Building Inspector (B1) and Commercial Building Inspector (B2).
• ICC certifications (Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Plans Examiner) may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans and specifications; perform complex building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical inspections.
• Prepare accurate and concise reports and maintain documentation.
• Supervise and manage work of others and assist in division operations.
• Establish cooperative relationships with engineers, architects, contractors and the public.
