Job summary

City of Le Sueur, MN seeks a part-time Building Official to interpret and enforce Minnesota State Building Code and city regulations. You will process permits, perform inspections, and issue occupancy certificates for code-compliant buildings and structures.

Under the Community Development Director, you will review plans, answer permit questions, and help enforce the Rental Housing ordinance while maintaining safety and public welfare.

Qualifications

• Possession of Minnesota Building Official Limited Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Five years building construction or inspections experience; ICC certifications preferred.
• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and codes.

Responsibilities

• Reviews building permit applications for compliance with codes and requirements.
• Performs inspections of buildings and structures during construction and occupancy.
• Issues correction orders and certificates of occupancy for compliant work.
• Responds to inquiries about permits and enforces rental housing ordinance.
• Communicates effectively with staff, officials, contractors, and the public.
