Job summary

City of Le Sueur, MN seeks a part-time Building Official/Inspector to interpret and enforce state building codes and local regulations. You will review permits, inspect structures, and issue occupancy certificates under the direction of the Community Development Director. The position requires strong knowledge of building codes and the ability to communicate with officials and the public.

A valid Minnesota driver’s license is required. Approx. 20 hours/week with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of complex state and municipal codes and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and enforce codes.
• Experience with permit processing, inspections, and occupancy certificates.

Responsibilities

• Reviews building permit applications for accuracy and compliance.
• Reviews plans for compliance and approves or identifies non-compliance.
• Performs inspections of buildings during construction and upon completion.
• Issues orders for correction and certificates of occupancy.
• Administers the City’s Rental Housing ordinance including inspections.
• Interacts with officials, contractors, residents, and the public.
