Job summary

Chisago County is seeking a Building Inspector to perform difficult building inspections, review construction plans, issue notices, and file required reports. Work is performed under the supervision of the Building Official in Center City, MN.

Must hold Minnesota Building Official Limited certification and have a high school diploma or GED with extensive related experience. This full-time position requires knowledge of state and local codes, ability to communicate with contractors and engineers,

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and extensive experience, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Must hold current Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry certification as Building Official Limited.
  • Ability to review plans for construction standards and codes.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain inspection records and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and corrects building plans for compliance and issues permits.
  • Inspects buildings during construction and upon completion for code compliance and Certificates of Occupancy.
  • Advises contractors and engineers on construction methods and code standards.
  • Maintains accurate building code and inspection records.
  • Assists in zoning violation investigations and related court documentation.
