Job summary

The City of Corpus Christi is seeking an Inspections Supervisor in Development Services to lead field inspection staff, coordinate assignments, and ensure adherence to building codes and city policies.

You will oversee daily inspection activities, provide training, and conduct audits to maintain high-quality inspections. The role requires collaboration with the Deputy Building Official and other stakeholders to implement new codes and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (AA/AS); or 2 year technical certificate; or Master Electrician; or Master Plumber
• Four (4) years of experience

Responsibilities

• Supervises field staff, coordinates work assignments, and provides training and instruction for subordinate inspectors
• Oversees daily inspection activities by reviewing the work of Inspectors to ensure performance standards are met
• Performs quality control audits of completed inspections to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence
• Spot checks construction at job sites for conformity with building plans
• Train and develop staff; provide technical expertise and recommendations for code processes
• Assists with more complex inspections to ensure compliance with code requirements
• May meet with architects, engineers, building owners and contractors to determine alternate methods of construction
• Investigates complaints and resolves more complex or unusual issues
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
