Job summary

Chelsea Piers is seeking a Lead Building Engineer to run the physical plant at a premier New York sports and entertainment complex. You will lead a Building Engineer reporting to the Chief Engineer and help drive a clear leadership pathway within Facilities.

This one-site role offers steady hours, a chance to own critical systems, and a route to grow into leadership while contributing to a landmark venue and community impact.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial facilities experience including maintenance of chillers and boilers
• Hands-on HVAC diagnostics and performance optimization
• Proficiency with BAS/BMS controls and preventive maintenance programs
• Experience maintaining large, occupied facilities
• Ability to read technical plans and understand all building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire protection)
• Must have or obtain EPA 608, and FDNY Certificates of Fitness (S12, S13) and CPO

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations across the facility and supervise the Building Engineer's tasks
• Own principal mechanical systems: HVAC, chiller plant, pools, pumps, elevators, dehumidification
• Be the crisis point for mechanical issues and drive fast resolution
• Manage vendors and service contracts to budget while ensuring quality
• Coordinate projects and prioritize work orders with the Chief Engineer
• Deliver daily activity reports on mechanical issues and operations
• Ensure safety and compliance through regular inspections and improvements
