Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an on-site controls technician to maintain, repair and commission building automation systems across commercial facilities. You will troubleshoot complex control systems, mentor junior staff, and provide clear customer guidance during service visits.

Your role focuses on delivering reliable comfort, energy efficiency, and system uptime while adhering to safety standards and documenting all work for as-built records.

Qualifications

• Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team.
• Commercial Controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Vocational School program graduate or an associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years’ experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
• Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to technical and non-technical people.
• Strong writing skills for documentation and reporting.
• Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and related subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and servicing of building control systems.
• Provide high levels of on-site customer satisfaction through direct interface.
• Mentor technicians on building automation activities and ensure safe, compliant work.
• Complete project and service documentation accurately and timely.
• Offer field retrofit proposals and enhancements; assist sales with technical input.
