Responsibilities

As the Lead Building Automation Installer, you will plan layout, install, test and maintain electrical wiring and equipment per job specifications and local codes. You will ensure safety, quality, and budget compliance while leading field labor and communicating with design and client teams.

• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes.
• Connect wires to electrical components as needed for a complete and operational system.
• Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure safety and compatibility.
• Use a variety of tools or equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment such as ammeters.
• Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
• Ensure personal and team safety on jobs, including pre‑task planning and toolbox talks.
• Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.
• Prepare as‑built documents and submit them to the design team.
• Complete and submit labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
• Participate in operational verification of systems and develop customer acceptance procedure plans.
• Monitor, manage, and anticipate project installation budgets and notify Lead Controls Installation Specialist of potential problems.
• Submit regular labor productivity reports for each managed project.
• Prepare installation material orders and submit purchase order requests for specialized install materials such as wire, conduit, and hangers.
• Schedule delivery of equipment and installation materials to job sites.
• Review changes in materials or equipment, make change‑order recommendations to the Design team, and notify the Lead Controls Installation Specialist of changes.
• Maintain close contact with installation personnel and respond to material contingencies.
• Participate in project hand‑off meetings, coordinate with the Lead Controls Installation Specialist to schedule resources and field labor.
• Examine job contract plans and specifications, submittal documents, and review with the Design team to get a complete picture of the system designed.
• Visit actual job sites for engineering layout information.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Efficiently manage field labor allocated for projects.
• Provide technical information to installation personnel and the Design team on equipment applications.
• Maintain employee paperwork such as time cards and expense reports and submit them in a timely fashion.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Controls Installation Specialists I and II.
• Provide or participate in customer training.
• Maintain proficient product knowledge and stay up to date on company installation standards, safety training and current building codes.
• Manage own backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion.
• Keep field personnel informed of job status and elevate problems as needed.
• May be responsible for basic program duplication and assist in commissioning unitary type control devices such as Variable Air Volume (VAV) units.
• Participate in startup procedures and may make minor modifications to control programs with direction from the Controls System Specialist.

Pay Range: $28.83 - $43.25 per hour. The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
