Job summary

Clayton is seeking a Production Lead Builder to lead our production team assembling precut wooden parts for trusses, wall panels and related components. The role requires coaching, enforcing safety, maintaining quality standards, and training staff in best practices for roofing and wall assemblies.

You will ensure deadlines are met and foster teamwork across shifts. Full-time position with a safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Previous construction experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in manufactured housing is greatly desired.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as basic math skills.
• Must be detail-oriented and can multi-task effectively.
• Ability to read and understand home building specifications greatly desired.
• Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

• Coach and provide direction, assistance, and training to the production personnel in their work area.
• Enforcement of safety procedures for the company to ensure it is compliant with federal and state safety laws.
• Coach and maintain the quality control standards and procedures as established by the company.
• Train and maintain the production best practices established for the production of roof and floor trusses and wall panels.
• Ensure that reporting employees obey all safety rules and regulations.
• Obeys and ensures others obey all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
• Ensures that scheduled work in their particular area is completed.
• Ensures completion of jobs so that work can be delivered to meet customer’s deadlines.
• Coaches team members on best practices in use of tools, handling material and building components.
• Ensures that all reporting employees are busy and productive.
• Ensures their team cleans work area daily at the end of the shift.
• Ensures their team is ready to work in their area at the beginning of every shift and at the end of breaks.
• Informs Plant Manager when material is missing, defective or additional material is needed.
• Maintains a spirit of teamwork with all employees.
