Job summary

Lochner, an Egis Company is seeking a Chief Inspector in Rhode Island to lead on-site construction engineering and inspection for bridges and related infrastructure. You will supervise inspectors, ensure testing and compliance with RIDOT/FHWA standards, and manage field operations to safeguard safety and project delivery.

The role requires NICET or PE certification and a BSCE, with 6+ years of field inspection and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 6 years of field inspection experience.
• NICET or PE certification or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary field representative between RIDOT, contractors, designers, and stakeholders.
• Lead and supervise a team of construction inspectors.
• Ensure material testing is compliant with project specifications and RIDOT Master Schedule of Testing requirements.
• Manage inspection assignments, schedules, and daily field operations.
• Ensure adherence to RIDOT Standard Specifications, Supplemental Specifications, and Standard Details.
• Ensure contractor compliance with RIDOT and FHWA standards, AASHTO requirements and OSHA safety regulations.
• Coordinate and verify material testing (concrete, steel, asphalt, etc.).
• Review and approve material certifications, concrete mix designs and shop drawings and working drawings (as assigned).
• Maintain project documentation including daily inspection reports, non-compliance notices and working progress and quantity calculations.
