Job summary

Longmeadow High School is seeking a Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach to lead the program after school and in the evenings. The coach will plan practices, develop players, and ensure high standards of knowledge and sportsmanship in accordance with district policies.

Responsibilities include setting goals, coordinating schedules, integrating current coaching methods, communicating with players and families, and contributing to athletic program improvements.

Qualifications

• Educational preparation relevant to area of instruction.
• Prior relevant successful coaching experience preferred.
• Such other qualifications or alternatives as the Principal and Superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Lead the athletic program with professional knowledge and best practices.
• Set short-term and season-long goals; develop and share practice schedules.
• Integrate current coaching methods and instructional technologies.
• Promote active learning and assess progress toward objectives.
• Establish a respectful, supportive learning environment for players.
• Communicate openly with players, parents, staff and administration.
• Collaborate to identify athletic improvements and assess results.
