Job summary

The State of Indiana seeks a Facility Operator for Pendleton Correctional Facility to perform critical repair and maintenance on steam plant equipment. You will diagnose malfunctions, conduct plumbing and mechanical work, and collaborate on annual boiler overhauls while supporting operations during peak periods.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a 3rd Class certification pursued within the first year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or HSE plus 1 year steam plant maintenance or related vocational training.
• Facility Operator 3rd Class certification within 12 months is required or pursued.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics for equipment function.

Responsibilities

• Routinely check, clean, repair belts, equipment, pumps and alarm systems for proper function.
• Determine malfunctions and perform repairs on steam plant equipment.
• Pipefitting and plumbing tasks for steam plant equipment and lines.
• Perform mechanical repairs on vehicles and conveyors.
• Assist in boiler overhaul and maintenance.
• Operate plant during emergencies or peak periods.
• Maintain regular attendance at the assigned worksites.
