Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Lead Technician in Blood Components Manufacturing. You will process blood units into transfusable components, scan units, and ensure compliant production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management.

The role requires maintaining accurate documentation, meeting production goals, and ensuring safety. You may train staff, supervise operations, and work a variable schedule including weekends and holidays to support hospital needs.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required; 4+ years of related regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good computer skills and ability to use various programs and lab equipment; attention to detail and accurate documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork; able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Meet quality and production goals; maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform inventory management throughout manufacturing and distribution.
• Data entry and operation of software for component production, labeling, storage, and sample tubes.
• Analyze information from other departments to meet deadlines.
• Perform complex tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freezing, and pathogen reduction of blood products.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers.
• May work a variable schedule including weekends/holidays to meet hospital needs.
• Assist in supervising and training staff when needed.
