Job summary

Computercraft is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist Lead to head the SRA Bioinformatics team supporting the NIH Sequence Read Archive, the world’s largest publicly accessible repository for genomic sequencing data. The role offers collaboration with NIH/NCBI and a hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence in Bethesda, MD.

You will develop software, tools, and workflows to improve FAIR data, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and drive impact on scientific research and public health.

Qualifications

• Doctorate-level degree in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology, data science, computer science, information technology, or related field.
• Conceptual knowledge of genomics, molecular biology, and computational biology.
• Practical knowledge of bioinformatics tools and the application of genomic sequencing data.
• Experience leading teams, setting goals, prioritizing work, and using metrics to measure success.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentations.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and manage risks across stakeholders.
