Job summary

HIRECLOUT is seeking a Principal Battery Systems Engineer to lead the architecture of energy storage and high-voltage systems for a next-generation electric aircraft. This remote U.S. role places you as the technical authority for a critical flight system.

You will own system requirements, perform energy modeling, evaluate cell tech, and partner with suppliers to advance from concept to validation and certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (EE/Aerospace/Mech) required.
• 15 years of experience developing battery systems in aerospace or safety-critical industries.
• Technical owner/lead engineer on vehicle programs through testing, qualification, or production.
• Deep expertise in battery cell evaluation, pack architecture, BMS, and HV design.
• Knowledge of aerospace battery safety standards and hardware certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall battery system architecture and HV distribution strategy for an advanced electric aircraft platform.
• Perform system sizing, energy modeling, and power analyses to ensure mission performance and reliability.
• Evaluate battery cell technologies and lead trade studies to determine optimal pack architectures.
• Develop battery thermal management strategies and integrate with aircraft thermal systems.
• Lead engineering for battery safety, compliance, validation, and certification activities.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, partners, and subcontractors.
• Develop system requirements, specifications, interfaces, and design documentation for prototype and production hardware.
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews and aircraft architecture decisions.
• Identify technical risks and drive mitigation through testing and validation.
