Job summary

Electra is building the EL9, a nine-passenger hybrid-electric aircraft. We seek a Principal Battery Systems Engineer to own battery design, integration, and verification, interfacing with propulsion, electrical, and thermal teams to meet stringent safety and performance standards.

You will work closely with certification authorities and supplier partners, guiding system-level requirements and verification activities through FAA/EASA processes while advancing the energy storage architecture for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant Battery Systems experience in safety-critical settings.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, integration, and verification of EL9 battery systems.
• Define system requirements, performance targets, and safety criteria.
• Manage battery system suppliers and mitigate technical risks.
• Develop verification plans including simulations, lab tests, and flight tests.
• Interface with FAA/EASA Part 23 certification activities.
• Collaborate with propulsion, electrical, and thermal teams across disciplines.
