Job summary

General Motors Company is seeking a Battery Structures Engineer within Advanced Propulsion Engineering to develop battery enclosure and structural integration solutions for next-generation propulsion systems in EVs, HEVs, and other platforms.

You will own design workstreams, collaborate across CAE, safety, manufacturing, and supplier teams, and ensure packaging, mass, cost, and safety targets are met through concept through validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in vehicle or battery structures.
• Experience with structural design for integrated automotive systems.
• Ability to develop designs from concept to validation.
• Knowledge of load paths, crashworthiness, durability, sealing, and packaging considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and mature battery enclosure and body/frame integration solutions.
• Translate requirements into component and interface specifications.
• Develop CAD layouts, studies, and documentation for battery structures.
• Collaborate with CAE, Safety, and test teams to interpret analysis results.
• Partner with suppliers and manufacturing to resolve risks.
• Communicate status and recommendations to leadership.
