Job summary

Wayne Valley High School is seeking a Head Coach to lead one sport within the District Athletic Program, oversee practices, competitions, and staff, and ensure safe, fair play in accordance with NJISIAA rules. The ideal candidate will hold a valid State Teaching Certificate or County Substitute Certificate, have prior coaching experience, and actively participate in professional activities and conferences.

The role reports to the Director of Athletics and Building Principal and includes

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid State Teaching Certificate or County Substitute Certificate.
• Experience coaching the sport and leading a team.
• Meets district experience requirements and is able to coach at a high school level.

Responsibilities

• Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the sport.
• Attend clinics and workshops to stay updated on techniques and rules.
• Ensure compliance with conference and state rules at all times.
• Be active in professional organizations.
• Oversee equipment upkeep and inventory within the sport area.
• Maintain safety of facilities and playing areas for students.
• Recommend personnel for assistant coaching positions.
• Assist in budgeting for the sport and submit budgets as required.
• Maintain team and individual records and report to the Athletic Director.
• Participate in league and county coaches meetings.
• Ensure proper physicals and adherence to district accident policies.
