Job summary

Applitrack is seeking an Assistant Coach at Wayne Valley High School to lead an athletic activity, supervise athletes, and implement the district athletic program guidelines.

The candidate should hold a valid State Teaching or County Substitute Certificate, with prior sport experience and a commitment to safety, inventory control, and budget support. Collaboration with the Head Coach and Director of Athletics is essential.

Qualifications

• State Teaching Certificate/County Substitute Certificate (60 collegeunits to qualify).
• Skill qualifications necessary to complete established performance responsibilities.
• Prior experience in the sport.

Responsibilities

• Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the sport.
• Shall be knowledgeable of new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and workshops, reading in his/her sport.
• Shall be responsible for up-to-date knowledge of conference and state rules.
• Shall be active in professional organizations.
• Shall be responsible for the general upkeep, care and protection of equipment under his/her jurisdiction.
• Keeps up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment and arrange for systematic return of equipment.
• Ensures facility, field, locker room and play areas are safe for participation.
• Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, uniforms and other materials as appropriate.
• Assist Head Coach with the annual budget as may be requested.
• Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments.
• Participate in League and County coaches meetings.
• Fall coaches present for pre-season sports physicals.
• Comply with District policies on accident reporting and insurance programs and ensure athlete physicals.
• Assist in compiling eligibility lists.
• Communicate rules and regulations to student athletes.
• Define criteria for awards and supervise all team activities.
• Ensure appropriate dress for trips; coordinate departure times with notices.
• Builds sportsmanship and public relations in school and community.
• Keep Head Coach/Director informed of program developments.
• Recommend suspensions as directed by supervisors.
• Teach skills necessary for achievement in the sport.
• Additional duties as assigned by Head Coach/Director of Athletics.
• Train to serve as a delegate for Epi-Pen administration.
