Job Overview:

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and passionate Coffee Lead to join our team as we prepare to open our doors. This role is essential in overseeing daily coffee operations, ensuring exceptional quality and service, and training our part-time baristas. You’ll collaborate with us to develop a menu that showcases both staple offerings and seasonal drinks, and help cultivate a warm, welcoming atmosphere for our guests. As a key member of the team, you’ll play a critical role in creating a memorable experience for every customer who walks through our doors.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain daily coffee bar operations, including opening and closing duties
  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages
  • Help establish consistent adherence to coffee recipes, brewing methods, and presentation standards
  • Collaborate with the owner to develop a staple menu and create seasonal drink offerings
  • Train and mentor baristas, ensuring consistency in drink preparation, customer service, and operational procedures
  • Help schedule part-time baristas and manage shift coverage
  • Oversee daily deliveries, ensuring accurate receiving and organization
  • Assist the owner with purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory levels
  • Receive and process customer payments
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service areas, and seating areas in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Provide warm, friendly, and attentive customer service that embodies the Mazúr Coffee and our Mazúr Boutique brand
  • Support a positive team culture, encourage collaboration, and resolve any day-to-day issues
  • Serve as a natural leader and people person who inspires and motivates the team
  • Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blends, drink suggestions based on preference, or preparations as requested

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Previous experience in a coffee shop or similar hospitality setting (1-2 years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of espresso-based drinks, brewing methods, and coffee equipment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
  • Passion for coffee, hospitality, and building community
  • Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent customers
  • Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices
  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
