31st Union in California seeks a Lead Backend Engineer to guide the studio-hosted services, own architecture, and lead backend engineers in the US and EU studios. You will be the first point of contact for backend technical decisions and incidents, reporting to the Director - Online Services.

This role is based in our San Mateo, California studio and is open to fully remote candidates.

Formación

• 10+ years of server-side development experience with a related degree or equivalent.
• Led backend engineers on a shipped AAA title, preferably live-service or multiplayer.
• Fluent in C#, proficient in Python or Go, strong distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience deploying production services on AWS; NoSQL and Redis expertise.

Responsabilidades

• Lead backend team: 1:1s, goals, performance feedback, hiring.
• Own architecture of studio-hosted services and deployment topology.
• Align backend roadmap with studio releases and run on-call rotations.
• Maintain CI pipelines, deployment automation, monitoring and incident response.
• Integrate proprietary services with external platform services.
