Job summary

ARQ is a fast-growing fintech constructing scalable backend systems to move value across borders. As a Backend Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure services powering our products, collaborating with a world-class team to enable financial inclusion.

You’ll work on greenfield and existing systems, building REST APIs, microservices, and services like card payments and treasury management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in backend development with Java
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Math/Physics or related field
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• Track record of building products used by millions in hypergrowth startups

Responsibilities

• Focus on greenfield development and improving existing systems
• Build REST APIs, engineering microservices and support systems like payments and treasury management
• Work with Java backend stack (Spring Boot) and Postgres database
• Emphasize clean code, maintainability, and fast delivery with TDD/DDD and CI/CD
