ARQ, a fast-growing fintech, is hiring a Backend Engineer in New York to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering money movement and cross‑border services. You will work with a talented team to deliver secure, high‑performing solutions across payments, treasury, and crypto liquidity, with a Spring Boot/Java stack and a focus on clean code.

The role emphasizes greenfield work, rapid delivery, and a culture of testing (TDD/DDD) and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Experience in backend development with Java.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Physics or related field.
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Track record of building complex products used in hypergrowth startups.

Responsibilities

• Greenfield development and improvement of existing systems.
• Build REST APIs and microservices; evolve systems like card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, crypto liquidity.
• Backend stack: Java, Postgres; using Spring Boot; focus on clean code, maintainability, TDD, DDD, CI/CD.
