Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Lead Backend Software Engineer to design, build and scale GEICO's core billing platform. You will drive modernization of a distributed system, oversee architectural decisions, and mentor a team of engineers across multiple billing domains.

You will work in a HYBRID role across offices and participate in shaping high-quality, high-performance software that touches invoicing, payments, collections, CRM integration, and analytics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience architecting and designing large-scale, complex systems.
• Proficient in Java, Kotlin, Golang or similar languages for high-performance code.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL, Kafka, Spark, Airflow or equivalents.
• Cloud computing, DevOps, observability, telemetry, and test automation expertise.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee high-level and low-level designs of billing platform subsystems.
• Ensure quality, reliability, usability, and performance of solutions.
• Provide strategic guidance for multiple billing teams and align with technical vision.
• Lead design and development of scalable, maintainable software systems.
