Job Title: Sr Java/AWS Cloud Engineer

Note: 1 week onsite in Dallas, TX, when requested by the reporting manager. Expenses paid by the company.

Job Description:

• Must have 10+ years of U.S.A. work experience.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with leaders and employees.
• Hours/Time Zone: Must be able to work 8 am - 5 pm CST. (Candidates in CST & EST only)
• Travel: Ability to travel 1 week to SWA Headquarters in Dallas. Travel frequency may be quarterly or monthly, expenses paid by SWA/Odyssey.
• 2025 travel weeks: Feb 24-28, June 16-20, Oct 6-10, plus PI Planning weeks. Travel typically on Mondays; in-office Tues-Thurs.
• Vacation: No international travel or long vacations in first 90 days.
• Remote Work: Not approved outside the U.S.
• Environment: Agile/Scrum, 2-week sprints, daily video meetings.

About the team and role:

• Growing team supporting backend services and migrating to an Integration platform.
• Current environment includes on-premises, CI/CD, AWS Cloud, Step Functions, API Gateway.
• Team seeks learners, culture fit, with 10+ years of experience, mainly backend Java and cloud development.
• Responsibilities include full lifecycle development, production support, AWS training, and working with unclear requirements.

Required Skills:

• Extensive AWS Cloud development experience.
• Java backend, Microservices, Spring Boot, Lambda, Python, Serverless.
• API design, API Gateway, Step Functions, Kafka.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (SQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, DocumentDB).
• ETL processes, Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker.
• Cloud logging and monitoring skills are a plus.
