Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking a Lead of Avionics Battery Test Engineering to build and lead the high‑voltage battery testing program for Terran R. You will define test strategy, build lab infrastructure, and hire a team of test engineers across HV, pack, and cell testing.

You will oversee HV battery bring‑up, structured failure analysis, and data systems that turn test results into rapid, high‑quality feedback for design teams. This role requires hands-on lab expertise and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, aerospace, or related field).
• Extensive experience in battery testing, validation, or energetics; hands-on testing.
• Strong understanding of battery physics, safety behavior, failure modes, HV fundamentals.
• Experience defining and executing performance, durability, abuse, destructive tests.
• Hands-on experience with battery test equipment, cyclers, chambers, DAQ, instrumentation.
• 3+ years leading test engineering teams; develop engineers' technical and leadership skills.
• Strong safety mindset; oversee high-energy, high-consequence test operations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Avionics Battery Test Engineering team from the ground up.
• Define test strategy and build lab infrastructure; establish safety standards.
• Hire and develop engineers including electrical/performance and abuse/destructive testers.
• Oversee HV battery bring-up and pack-/cell-level testing.
• Perform structured failure analysis and share rapid feedback with design teams.
• Manage test operations in fast-paced development environments.
