Job summary

Buro Happold in Washington DC is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to lead aviation projects. You’ll work directly with clients, organize proposals, and manage project teams to deliver concepts and detailed designs that meet budget and schedule constraints.

The role requires 8+ years in PFP engineering, aviation project experience, and a relevant degree. A strong leadership mindset and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering.
• Experience in airport/aviation projects is preferred.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate directly with clients.
• Serve as a primary Plumbing & Fire Protection discipline lead on medium to large aviation projects.
• Organize technical and financial proposals for new work.
• Manage the workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians, including verification of quality.
• Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detailed design and prepare technical specifications.
• Monitor the financial performance of jobs.
• Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing and expenditure.
• Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and ensure client objectives are achieved.
• Ensure practices and policies align with client interests and building codes.
