Job summary

Lightman Technology in McFarland, WI seeks a Lead AV Technician to install golf simulators, audio-video systems, networking, and access control on customer sites. You will lead from prewire to handoff and mentor junior installers.

The role emphasizes onsite independence, strong client interaction, and the ability to design networks, configure video conferencing, and support ongoing service. Compensation is $30–$40 per hour; travel and a company vehicle may be included.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of AV, low-voltage, networking, or security installation experience.
• Hands-on networking experience with Ubiquiti, Araknis, Cisco Meraki, or similar.
• Experience with commercial audio or video conferencing.
• Able to read floor plans and work independently on site.

Responsibilities

• Lead golf simulator installs from prewire to handoff, including all simulator software, PC, projector, and launch monitor setup.
• Design and set up complete networks: firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
• Install and program video conferencing systems for conference rooms
• Install and commission commercial Q-SYS audio systems (programming is provided by others)
• Install and troubleshoot audio systems, from Sonos to commercial amplifiers and speakers
• Install displays, home theaters, security cameras, and access control
• Handle service calls and troubleshooting for existing clients
• Help with site surveys, system design, and equipment lists for quotes
• Lead and train a field installer on job sites

About this position

Lightman Technology designs and installs golf simulators, audio-video, networking, and security systems for homes and businesses across Wisconsin. Golf simulators are our fastest-growing line of work. We also own and operate SmartGolf Studios, a six-bay simulator venue in McFarland, so we know what it takes for these systems to perform every day. We have one of the largest AV Showrooms in the Madison Market.

We’re a small, growing team. You’ll have a real say in how jobs get done, and room to grow with the company.

Compensation:

$30 - $40 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Lead golf simulator installs from prewire to handoff, including all simulator software, PC, projector, and launch monitor setup. If you don't have experience with Golf Simulators, don't worry; our existing staff will train you

• Design and set up complete networks: firewalls, switches, and wireless access points

• Install and program video conferencing systems for conference and meeting rooms

• Install and commission commercial Q-SYS audio systems (programming is provided by others)

• Install and troubleshoot audio systems, from Sonos to commercial amplifiers and speakers

• Install displays, home theaters, security cameras, and access control

• Handle service calls and troubleshooting for existing clients

• Help with site surveys, system design, and equipment lists for quotes

• Lead and train a field installer on job sites

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of AV, low-voltage, networking, or security installation experience

• Hands-on networking experience (Ubiquiti, Araknis, Cisco Meraki, or similar)

• Experience with commercial audio, video conferencing, or both

• Able to read floor plans and work independently on site

• Professional, dependable, and good with clients

• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

• Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders and in attics and crawlspaces
