Job summary

General Motors seeks an experienced engineering leader to head the Metrics Frameworks team for autonomous-driving evaluation. You will define the team’s vision, manage a high‑performing group of software and data engineers, and own the delivery of scalable metrics platforms.

The role blends long‑term technical strategy with day‑to‑day execution, collaborating with customers and partner teams to translate needs into measurable outcomes while upholding reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years building software, data platforms, or evaluation systems in production.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience delivering roadmaps for platforms/frameworks used by multiple teams.
• Experience building/scaling data-processing pipelines and workflows.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, testing, observability, and performance tradeoffs.
• Ability to translate complex problems into clear priorities and decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across org boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a high‑performing team of software and data engineers.
• Define the team’s technical vision, roadmap, and operating plan with AV leadership.
• Own delivery of scalable frameworks for metrics across simulated/real‑world data.
• Ensure platforms are reliable, observable, and maintainable for internal customers.
• Establish SLAs, health metrics, dashboards, and operational practices for data pipelines.
• Balance feature delivery with platform modernization and technical debt.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate needs into plans and outcomes.
• Raise engineering bar through architecture, reviews, testing, security, and docs.
• Develop mechanisms to separate framework ownership from business logic.
• Improve production-support and incident-response practices for metrics pipelines.
