Job summary

Texas A&M University System Offices in Bryan, TX, seeks a Senior Research Engineer I to lead high-level design of autonomy stacks and to prototype solutions for complex challenges. You will integrate diverse platforms from tactical UTVs to UAVs, advancing multi-agent coordination and field-tested capabilities.

You will guide system experiments, develop robust hardware-software architectures, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with faculty on new research opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six years of related experience.
• Experience prototyping architectures for decentralized communication frameworks with middleware solutions.
• Experience identifying funding opportunities and contributing to technical proposals.

Responsibilities

• Architects and implements core frameworks for multi-agent coordination across autonomy stacks.
• Develops proof-of-concept prototypes to scope new methodologies.
• Writes high-performance Python/C++ code for embedded hardware and ROS2 systems.
• Leads cross-platform communication and shared situational awareness architectures across air and ground assets.
• Mentors staff through design reviews and implementation.
