Job summary

The United States Postal Service seeks a working group leader in a vehicle maintenance facility who will supervise lower-level technicians and mechanics, oversee complex repairs, and ensure safe, efficient service for the postal fleet.

You will provide hands-on guidance, maintain maintenance records, train staff on diagnostic equipment, and enforce environmental and safety regulations consistent with Postal policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses operating difficulties on a variety of vehicles and performs engine and major system checks.
• Performs computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment and interprets codes.
• Conducts road tests before/after maintenance and annotates vehicle problems on work orders.
• Troubleshoots malfunctioning vehicles from road calls and identifies faulty parts.
• Plans repairs, annotates estimated repair times, and assigns work to staff.
• Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs.
• Provides guidance to mechanics on complex repairs and use of diagnostic equipment.
• Maintains vehicle maintenance records, including repairs and labor hours.
• Assists in training staff on repairs and diagnostic tools.
• Monitors safety practices and compliance with regulations.
