Job summary

EPITEC is seeking an experienced Structures Design & Release Engineer for a full-time contract role in Dearborn, MI. The selected candidate will lead the design, development, and launch of upper body sheet metal components from concept through production, focusing on roof structures, pillars, and bodyside parts.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and at least 5 years of D&R experience, plus strong CAD skills (Catia) and CAE/testing support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience as Structures D&R Engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and releasing automotive sheet metal components from concept through production.
• Strong CAD geometry knowledge and CAE testing support.
• Ability to coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to meet cost, weight, timing and durability targets.

Responsibilities

• Understand structural design to meet vehicle attributes including FMVSS, NVH and Safety.
• Lead Purchasing, Finance, and Cost Estimating in supplier selection to achieve program targets.
• Develop component designs that meet customer requirements and manufacturing requirements.
• Interface with engineers of surrounding components and systems.
• Release 3-D CAD that meets system design requirements.
• Support supplier and CAE testing of structure prior to tooling.
• Kick off tooling, supplier part manufacturing, layout, and testing.
• Lead prototype vehicle level build support for structures.
• Manage final engineering sign-off and production vehicle launch at plants.
