Job summary

Thundersoft is seeking a Technical Specialist, Functional Safety Engineer in Michigan to lead safety activities across vehicle systems. The role focuses on ISO 26262, SOTIF, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver safe automotive solutions.

You'll review safety analyses, define system concepts, and work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure compliant safety interfaces and validations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering; 8+ years in functional safety field.
• Extensive ISO 26262 experience and safety program delivery.
• Experience with external/third-party reviews of safety work products.
• Ability to articulate safety issues and solutions to all levels of the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of functional safety system requirements and decomposition.
• Review and approve HARA, FSR, TSR, and validation tests.
• Define the functional safety concept per ISO 26262 for system, hardware and software.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, design and validation teams to meet safety requirements.
• Oversee functional safety readiness processes and metrics.
• Lead SOTIF requirements for autonomous driving and subsystems.
• Develop safety interfaces between project partners and suppliers.
• Support functional safety validation tests.
• Develop safety processes and tools and drive their adoption.
