Job summary

Actalent in Plymouth, MI is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electromechanical chassis system development. You will guide software/hardware integration, apply control theory, and direct cross‑functional teams from concept to production.

Hybrid work environment with frequent collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, system validation, and safety‑critical design experience in steering, driveline, and chassis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience developing automotive electromechanical systems in safety-critical areas.
  • Experience leading complex product development programs from concept to production.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for development and validation.
  • Familiarity with ISO-based safety standards, ASPICE, CMMI, or equivalent.
  • Experience with iterative verification and validation across V‑cycle development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering programs with clear objectives, risks, and cross‑functional coordination.
  • Serve as technical authority on software, hardware, and system integration.
  • Lead reviews of requirements, interfaces, and test results to improve performance and manufacturability.
  • Define verification/validation plans and develop calibration/diagnostic/test tools.
  • Support product launch and manufacturing with issue resolution and corrective actions.
  • Apply control theory and modeling to system design and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee testing environments (HIL, dynamometer, labs, vehicle) and data acquisition.
