Job summary

Staffing Network LLC in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks a skilled Automation Engineer to lead design, development, and integration of automated manufacturing systems, driving efficiency and uptime. You will own projects from concept to production, program PLCs (Keyence preferred), create SolidWorks assemblies, and mentor technicians in a fast-paced environment.

Expect work on industrial networks, sensors, HMIs, VFDs, safety systems, and robust commissioning processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in PLC programming, controls engineering, and automation system design.
• SolidWorks proficiency and mechanical system development experience.
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial automation platforms.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage automation projects from concept to implementation.
• Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering/Mechatronics/Automation or related field preferred.
• Significant hands-on PLC programming experience (Keyence platforms preferred).
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced automation systems, including controls architecture, I/O configuration, and industrial network layouts.
• Program, modify, and optimize PLC systems (Keyence experience preferred).
• Create mechanical automation designs and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Integrate sensors, HMIs, VFDs, motion controls, and safety systems into automated equipment.
• Configure and support industrial Ethernet networks and IP-based communication systems.
• Lead system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and production startup activities.
• Support manufacturing operations through root cause analysis and rapid downtime resolution.
• Maintain automation documentation, PLC backups, and programming standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Automation Technicians and production support teams.
