Job summary

The Department of Public Safety - Gambling Control Unit in Augusta, ME is seeking an Auditor II to perform independent, complex audits of governmental units and entities. The role includes reviewing internal controls, financial condition, and compliance with federal/state regulations, and may involve leading audit staff on larger assignments.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with two years of accounting/auditing experience; GAAP knowledge; and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field with two years of accounting/auditing experience OR a six-year combination at a professional auditing/accounting level.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, GAO and AICPA standards for governmental and private entities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
  • Ability to analyze accounting data and prepare comprehensive audit reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts independent and complex audits of governmental units, agencies, or business entities to review internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Prepares audit reports and schedules, exhibits, and documentation to present findings.
  • Leads other auditors on group assignments and oversees progress to ensure goals are met.
