Job summary

CBX Solutions is seeking an experienced AV Technician to design, plan and install audiovisual systems at project sites. You will oversee installation projects, manage inventories, and test systems to ensure proper operation.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with AV equipment, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with clients and internal teams. Travel to sites and a physical aptitude for installation work are required.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • CTS‑I certification and electronics education preferred.
  • Experience with AV installation in public spaces (schools, offices).
  • Industry certifications (Panduit, Systimax, BICSI) are desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the set up and operation of basic / large‑scale audiovisual systems.

Essential Functions
  • Design, plan and install AV systems.
  • Provide AV installation project oversight and updates.
  • Inventory AV devices and materials intended for installation.
  • Test and verify functionality of newly installed AV systems.
  • Perform AV system maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Other relative duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • OSHA 30
  • CTS‑I
  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Formal education in electronics or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent experience with audiovisual or other electro‑mechanical installation techniques, or field servicing.
  • Experience working in public places (schools, city/state offices, etc.).
  • Industry certifications (Panduit, Systimax, BICSI, etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to lead both small and large groups of other technicians.
  • Proven ability to effectively organize project communications, deliverables, and workflow
    • Organization of all project communication and documentation produced during project.
    • Organization and documentation of all project material and deliverables created as part of the project.
    • Organization and monitoring of project milestones to assist in proper schedule management.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
    • Communication with PM on manpower and material needs.
    • Communication with clients/customers.
    • Communication with other trades on jobsite.
    • Ability to monitor project schedule and milestones and provide progress updates as needed.
    • Attendance of internal and external project meetings both in person and virtually.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and other software suites applicable to the role including but not limited to:
    • MS Excel
    • MS Outlook
    • MS Word
    • Bluebeam
  • Advanced industry/manufacturer certifications/trainings, examples include:
    • Forte Trainings
    • Audinate/Dante Levels 1‑3
    • QSYS Level 2
    • Crestron 101
    • In depth understanding of audio concepts
  • Audio DSP configuration.
  • System tuning.
  • SHURE level 2.
  • High level troubleshooting of Layer 2 issues:
    • Networking
    • IP Conflicts
    • Firewalls
    • Routing
  • Ability to track and document red line drawings.
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting of audio systems.
  • Master level knowledge and performance of tasks.
  • Proficient in Plan Grid and other construction related software.
  • Knowing and willingness to push back on other trades in an effective and professional level.
  • Ability to resolve conflict both internal and external.
  • Ability to create a team atmosphere.
Physical Demands

This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two‑thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one‑third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.

Work Environment

This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
