We are seeking a skilled Audio Visual (AV) Technician to install, configure, test, and troubleshoot commercial audio‑visual systems for a variety of customer environments. The ideal candidate has experience with AV installations, structured cabling, and technology integration, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and configure commercial audio‑visual systems, including:
- Audio systems
- Video systems
- Video conferencing systems
- Digital displays
- Projection systems
- Control systems
- Equipment racks
- Speakers
- Cameras
- AV furniture and accessories
- Mount displays, projectors, screens, speakers, ceiling lifts, cameras, and related AV equipment.
- Assemble, wire, and dress equipment racks according to project specifications.
- Install and support video wall systems and digital signage when required.
Cabling & Termination
- Install, route, and secure low‑voltage cabling through walls, ceilings, conduit, raised floors, and other building structures.
- Terminate copper and fiber cabling using industry‑standard methods, including compression, crimping, soldering, and punch‑down terminations.
- Label, organize, and document cabling to company standards.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Test cabling and installed equipment to verify functionality and system performance.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Ensure installations meet company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Complete project documentation, punch lists, and service reports accurately.
Project Support
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, schematics, floor plans, and work orders.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Lead Technicians, and customers throughout project execution.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
- Travel to customer job sites as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Audio Visual installation, Structured Cabling, or Low Voltage systems.
- Experience installing commercial AV systems preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Cisco, Poly, or Microsoft Teams Rooms.
- Familiarity with CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic cabling, and cable certification testing.
- Knowledge of commercial construction practices and low‑voltage installation standards.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Lift certification and experience operating scissor lifts preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in construction environments, including indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work at heights using ladders and aerial lifts.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on job sites.
