Job summary

Fauna Robotics is building capable, safe, and delightful robots for everyday life, and voice is one of the most natural ways people will interact with them. We are hiring a Principal Audio Scientist to be Fauna's technical authority on how our robots hear.

You will design, prototype, and ship the hardest algorithms in the robot's audio system, leading cross-functional teams and shaping long-range roadmaps while ensuring robust performance in real-world noise.

Qualifications

• PhD or related field with substantial research experience.
• Hands-on expertise in multi-microphone audio processing and device constraints.
• Track record designing front-end audio algorithms for hardware.
• Experience influencing hardware decisions on microphone array design.

Responsibilities

• Set long-range science roadmap and technical architecture for robot audio.
• Design suppression of robot self-noise from motors and joints.
• Develop echo cancellation for the robot's own voice.
• Create multi-microphone processing robust to motion and noise.
• Make listening decisions using wake word and speech detection.
• Lead data collection and evaluation methods for audio design.
