Job summary

WellHaven is seeking a Veterinary Medical Director to ensure high-quality care and excellent client service. You will oversee staff, uphold medical standards, and collaborate with the Principal Doctor on development plans aligned with hospital objectives.

The role requires DVM/VMD, state license, and ability to maintain records while leading a fast-paced team across anesthesia, surgery, and emergency care. USDA accreditation is a plus.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD or equivalent required.
• State Veterinary Board License required.
• USDA Accreditation a plus.
• Proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and charting.
• Ability to train, lead, and manage support staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary medicine including anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, emergency, and critical care.
• Maintain thorough medical records and meet hospital quality-control standards.
• Oversee employees and prioritize hospital goals in collaboration with Principal Doctor.
• Lead the team and ensure compliance with OSHA and DEA safety standards.
• Communicate with clients in person, by phone, and by email.
• Participate in community events and hospital projects.
