Job summary

Boutique Recruiting is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller for a leading New York City multifamily real estate portfolio. You will oversee property accounting, drive the close process, manage a remote team, and ensure GAAP compliance while partnering with Asset Management to optimize NOI.

The role requires 8+ years in real estate accounting, NYC multifamily experience, and strong Yardi and Excel skills. This is a full-time on-site position with generous compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a US-accredited institution.
• 8+ years of real estate accounting experience.
• 1-2 years of NYC multifamily accounting experience.
• Experience leading accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• 2-3+ years hands-on Yardi ERP experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple properties and entities.
• Oversee onboarding of new properties into Yardi.
• Review and approve property-level financial statements with GAAP compliance.
• Review and sign off on financial reporting and regulatory filings.
• Mentor a remote team of property accountants and leadership.
• Oversee bank, security deposit, tax, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Analyze operating results and NOI with Asset Management support.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting and analysis in Excel.
• Serve as primary Yardi system expert and drive process improvements.
• Prepare NYC regulatory filings including RPIE and Tax Commission reporting.
