Job summary

Town of Davie is seeking a highly responsible Building Official/Assistant Building Official to perform administrative, supervisory and technical work in the Building Division, under limited supervision. You will oversee customer service, supervise Division personnel, enforce Florida Building Code, participate in budgets, and represent the Town in legal actions as expert witness.

The role requires HVHZ experience and active certification; a Florida driver’s license is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with supervisory/management experience.
• Certified by BORA as Building Code Administrator; HVHZ qualifications preferred.
• Must possess or obtain BORA Assistant Building Official certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Oversee customer service in Building Division to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Assist in supervision of Structural, Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical programs.
• Enforce Florida Building Code and related regulations; interpret codes for stakeholders.
• Represent Town in legal actions as expert witness on building code interpretation.
• Attend meetings and public gatherings to explain Division activities.
• Assist Building Official with annual budget proposals and expenditure oversight.
