Job summary

Hearst Television in Rogers, Arkansas seeks an Assignment Manager to lead the assignment desk and coordinate a continuous flow of information to all platforms. You will break news aggressively and manage severe weather coverage while directing newsroom staff on story ideas and editorial execution.

You will develop outside sources, maintain contacts, and take a proactive approach to market issues. In-person attendance is required and you will report to the News Director.

Qualifications

• Experience listening to police scanners.
• Ability to multi-task while coordinating with crews, producers and news managers.
• Familiar with digital platforms and social media usage for news gathering.

Responsibilities

• Listen to police scanners covering dozens of agencies.
• Respond aggressively to breaking news and severe weather.
• Develop stories and update them via sources and staff ideas.
• Plan coverage of major events and schedule staff.
• Assist producers, digital editors, reporters and photographers in gathering content.
• Write news stories for newscasts and website and post to social media.
