Job summary

KHBS/KHOG 40/29 & THE ARKANSAS CW in Rogers, AR is seeking an Assignment Manager to lead the assignment desk and coordinate a continuous flow of information to all platforms. You will be aggressive in breaking news and severe weather coverage, directing staff in story ideas and editorial decisions.

You will develop, maintain and utilize outside sources, take a proactive approach to market issues, and report to the News Director. In-person attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience listening to police scanners.
• Ability to multi-task while coordinating crews and news managers.
• Familiar with newsgathering technology and terminology.
• Experience with digital platforms and social media monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Listen to police scanners covering multiple agencies.
• Respond aggressively to breaking news and severe weather.
• Develop stories and update them by maintaining contact with sources.
• Organize day planner from press releases, emails, calls and staff ideas.
• Plan coverage of major events and schedule staff.
• Assist producers, digital editors, reporters and photographers with gathering information.
• Track crews in the field and maintain communication with them.
• Write news stories for newscasts and website; post to social media.
• Perform administrative duties including reviews, training and feedback.
