Job summary

Jobtailor in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Technical Program Manager to coordinate and oversee assessment activities for unmanned systems and related technologies. You will manage schedules, deliverables, and cross-team collaboration while ensuring quality and compliance across multiple programs.

The role requires hands-on testing and coordination across stakeholders, with a focus on logistics, risk management, and process improvement in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, systems assessment, testing, technical program management, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating, testing, troubleshooting, or working with complex hardware and/or software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical work across multiple people, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Experience tracking tasks, schedules, deliverables, risks, and action items.
  • Ability to perform hands-on technical and physical assessment work in addition to team coordination responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced team members.
  • Experience coordinating equipment logistics, inventory, shipping, receiving, or laboratory operations.
  • Experience interacting with vendors, customers, or government stakeholders.
  • Clearance selection is required on the application form; U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day assessment activities across the assessor team.
  • Track assessment schedules, priorities, deliverables, dependencies, and outstanding action items.
  • Help ensure assessments remain on schedule and meet established quality and reporting requirements.
  • Assign and coordinate assessment activities based on team availability, technical expertise, and program priorities.
  • Perform hands-on physical and technical assessments of unmanned systems and supporting technologies.
  • Provide additional assessment support during periods of increased workload or complex testing.
  • Review assessment work products for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior and mid-level assessors.
  • Coordinate internal communication between assessors, technical leadership, program management, and other stakeholders.
  • Track the shipping, receiving, inventory, and movement of systems and equipment used for assessment activities.
  • Maintain awareness of equipment status, assessment readiness, and logistical requirements within the Charlotte facility.
  • Identify risks, schedule impacts, resource constraints, and other issues affecting assessment execution.
  • Support the development and improvement of assessment processes, procedures, checklists, and documentation.
  • Assist with communicating technical findings, assessment status, and program needs to vendors and government stakeholders as required.
  • Support hardware, software, cybersecurity, and physical assessment activities based on program needs and individual technical expertise.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, systems assessment, testing, technical program management, or a related technical field
  • Hands‑on experience evaluating, testing, troubleshooting, or working with complex hardware and/or software systems
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical work across multiple people, priorities, and deadlines
  • Experience tracking tasks, schedules, deliverables, risks, and action items
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands‑on technical and physical assessment work in addition to team coordination responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent assessment activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to less experienced team members
  • Ability to identify problems, establish priorities, and drive tasks through completion in a fast‑moving technical environment
  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (nice to have)
  • Experience with unmanned aircraft systems, robotics, embedded systems, cUAS technologies, or other integrated hardware/software platforms (nice to have)
  • Experience leading or coordinating technical testing, assessment, engineering, or laboratory teams (nice to have)
  • Technical Program Manager, Technical Project Manager, engineering lead, team lead, or similar experience (nice to have)
  • Experience developing or improving technical processes, standard operating procedures, checklists, or workflows (nice to have)
  • Experience coordinating equipment logistics, inventory, shipping, receiving, or laboratory operations (nice to have)
  • Experience interacting directly with vendors, customers, or government stakeholders (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, hardware security, systems engineering, or technical compliance assessments (nice to have)
  • Clearance selection is required on the application form
  • U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility
